Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Location: Goodwood Circuit, PO18 0PH

Date: 11th – 12th of May, 2024

A Return to Goodwood

It was our absolute pleasure to return to the iconic Goodwood Circuit in West Sussex on the 11th and 12th of May for the Retro Rides Weekender 2024. Having been away from Goodwood since the start of the pandemic in 2020, this event marked a long-awaited reunion with one of Britain’s most historic motorsport venues.

A Weekend of Perfect Spring Weather

The British weather is known for its unpredictability, but May 2024 blessed us with glorious sunshine (even if the spring air was still refreshingly crisp in the morning). The event’s organisers, attendees, and staff alike were treated to ideal conditions for showcasing some of the most creative and eye-catching vehicles of the pre-2000 era.

A Time Capsule of Automotive Creativity

The Retro Rides Weekender is more than just a car show—it’s an expression of pure creativity. Walking among the diverse lineup of vehicles, it was like stepping into a time capsule whilst getting in your daily steps. Cars from decades past, each with its own unique story and style, rolled into the paddocks.

Marking your Calendar for 2025
As the weekend came to a close, one thing became clear—this event isn’t just a highlight of the spring calendar; it’s a must-attend for anyone who appreciates vintage cars and the creativity they inspire.

Goodwood Circuit Hosts a Stunning Display of Pre-2000 Automotive Icons

Goodwood Circuit’s Timeless Appeal

The Retro Rides Weekender reminded us why Goodwood Circuit holds such a special place in our hearts. From the incredible selection of vehicles to the camaraderie among enthusiasts, this was an event that captured the spirit of motoring passion.

The Goodwood Circuit, with its rich history and unmistakable charm, proved the perfect backdrop for a weekend dedicated to celebrating pre-2000 automotive masterpieces. Though we've since moved further north and no longer have Goodwood on our doorstep, making the trip south was undeniably worth it.

Lowriders with their dazzling paintwork and hydraulic systems sat alongside classic hearses turned into art pieces. European classics from brands like BMW, Alfa Romeo, and Ford mingled with bold, chrome-laden American muscle cars. Even stylish scooters from a time when two wheels ruled urban streets made an appearance.
Each vehicle had been carefully curated, restored, or customised to reflect the personality of its owner, making every car and bike on display a testament to the incredible imagination of the Retro Rides community.
The Retro Rides Weekender 2025 is already scheduled for May 10-11, and if the weather and atmosphere match this year’s experience, it’s one to pencil into your calendar immediately. For us, Tony and Carmen, it’s already locked in (unless the weather is looking really bad), and we can’t wait to see what automotive wonders the Retro Rides community will bring to Goodwood next year.

If you missed out this year, don’t worry—2025 promises to be just as spectacular. Dust off your vintage ride, polish those chrome details, and get ready to join us at one of the UK’s most exciting automotive gatherings.
