The Hot Rod Super Nationals, hosted by the National Street Rod Association UK (NSRA), has become a pinnacle event for Hot Rod enthusiasts in the UK, blending history, craftsmanship, and camaraderie.  Marking its 52nd year, the show took again over the grounds of Old Warden Park.  With the grandeur of Shuttleworth House as its backdrop, attendees were treated again to four days of automotive splendour, entertainment, and a buzzing atmosphere; a true feast for gearheads and automotive enthusiasts of all ages. 

For NSRA members, the Hot Rod Super Nationals is a true retreat. Imagine spending a long weekend immersed in stunning surroundings, enjoying live music, delicious food, and camaraderie, all while marvelling at an impressive display of pre-’73 Hot Rods, American Classics, and Custom Builds. The Sunday only (10am - 4pm) public showcase capped off the event, inviting everyone to witness the magic of this gathering of historic British goodness.

Returning After a Decade - It's been a while for us!

The last time we attended the Hot Rod Super Nationals was in 2014.  Back then, we embarked on our own international adventure, uncovering and documenting the most incredible custom cars for this very magazine from around the globe.  Now, 10 years later, it felt like a homecoming to be in England and witness the growth of this unparalleled event.  In our eyes, it remains the finest showcase of its kind in the UK, thriving again post-COVID and regaining its momentum.

Show Highlights

While we only managed to attend on Saturday and Sunday, the experience was nothing short of spectacular.  The organisation of the event was impeccable, with the usual artful choreography of arriving cars that transformed the grounds into a rolling fashion show of automotive beauty.  Each vehicle told a story, with memorable names like Pizza Express Delivery, Harlem Shuffle or Willy the Kid, to name a few, capturing the individuality and craftsmanship of their owners and builders.

The buzz was palpable as these incredible machines roared into position.  From old-school Hot Rods to Custom Builds with a modern edge, the diversity was breathtaking and impossible to capture it all in a mere image gallery. Though we couldn’t attend the entertainment offerings or delve into the evening festivities this time, the sheer variety and vibrancy of the cars made every moment of our time worthwhile.

Awards and Recognition

A highlight of the event was the awards ceremony, overseen by Keith Elliott, aka Roasty, with support from other NSRA board members. The effort poured into curating this display and recognising standout builds showcased the heart of the NSRA community. It’s a celebration of the passion and dedication that defines custom car culture, with accolades shining a spotlight on the finest creations in attendance.
